techniques. Both sessions feature a
similar curriculum with different guest instructors.
Work On Your Own
Session provides
unstructured carving time with forklift availability, air and
electricity.

Carving the Figure
June 15 - 21, 2008
With
George Bauer
This
dynamic
workshop will provide students with studio and onsite opportunities to
develop
and hone their figure carving skills. Students
will craft a proportional armature in the studio
and then work
in limestone on the site from the armature model.
Curriculum for
Carving the Figure
Day
One: Eight hours
working with a model (four hours drawing, four hours making armature
from
drawings, using heavy gauge aluminum wire, a wooden board, screws and
nails)
Day
Two: Six hours
modeling figure in foil and Sculpty
Day
Three: Roughing
out figure on site with instruction.
Day
Four: Roughing
out figure on site with instruction.

Five: Carving
with instruction

Beginner’s
Workshop:
Day
I: This workshop will cover basic
tools, roughing out and working from a maquette or drawing.
Day
II: This workshop will introduce
carving techniques, how to move stone around and basic principles of
sculpting.
